Darjeeling Rangeet Valley Passenger Ropeway
The Darjeeling Ropeway unites Darjeeling with Bijanbari down in the modest Rangeet Valley. A mono-cable sort, with one rope acting both as tractor and carrier, the Ropeway travels at a speed of 6.5 km an hour. At North Point about 3 km from the town. This exciting ride is on the first bi-cable passenger-carrying ropeway and the major of its kind in Asia. The ropeway was initially built at a cost of 29 lakhs of rupees essentially to serve up many tea gardens in the zone.

Ghoom Rock

Hinduism, Buddhism and to an extent Christianity, remain the major religion and Nepali, Hindi, Bengali and English are the existing languages of Darjeeling.

 
 

New Year
The Nepali ethnicity is prosperous with concealed artistic resources. Owing to the multiplicity of the populace of Darjeeling, some fiesta or the other is illustrious almost every month. Most of the Hindu and Tibetan celebration follow the lunar calendar and the end of January marks the end of the Tibetan Year, this is the most significant event in the Tibetan calendar. They rejoice this for about a week with high-quality food like especially cooked momos, new garments and dances.

Buddha Jayanti
Buddha Jayanti, birth centenary of Lord Buddha, is celebrated with demonstration from Buddhist monasteries with Lamas (Tibetan Monks) melodious ensemble followed by Lord Buddha's idol, and the procession typically carries the Buddhist sacred books around township.

 
 


Birthday of Dalai Lama
On 6th July Tibetans celebrate the birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. During the first week of July Tibetans celebrate Dzam Ling Chi Sang - Local Deities' Day.


Shakti puja
Nepalis call Durga Puja, as Shakti (Power) puja, when the goddess Durga is worshipped for nine days to devotion the nine diverse forms she comes in. Nepalis rejoice this by worshipping armaments like their customary Khukuri, etc. In the twilight young girls go from house to house singing Bhaileni and they are presented currency and food. Nepalis rejoice this day with illumination and firecrackers in the evening.
